Not a project gallery. A record of leadership impact — civic, professional, and continental.
In 2006, roughly 600 hectares of provincially owned farmland sat southwest of Winnipeg. By 2024, it had become Bridgwater — four neighbourhoods, thousands of homes, a commercial centre, and public parks. Emeka Nnadi was there from the beginning.
His engagement with Manitoba Housing and Renewal Corporation spans nearly two decades. His work in Bridgwater has touched every dimension of community creation: visioning, master planning, landscape architecture, urban design, and development management.
"It's not about me. It's about inspiring others — showing them that they can follow, that they can contribute, that they can leave something lasting in the cities that adopted them."
— Emeka Nnadi, on the park naming, June 2024The challenge: 600 hectares of farmland, a blank canvas, and a provincial mandate to create sustainable community.
The long arc: 20 years of design, planning, and development work with Manitoba Housing — from 2004 to present.
The design philosophy: Human-scale density, walkable streets, integrated green space, and mixed-use centres that serve all of life.
The community outcome: Four neighbourhoods — Bridgwater Forest, Lakes, Trails, and Centre — with thousands of homes and a full commercial hub.
The park naming (June 2024): City of Winnipeg names Emeka Nnadi Park — the first in the city's history named after a member of the African community.
The lesson: Patience, civic seriousness, and the courage to integrate design across disciplines are the tools that build lasting cities.
